Sports vs. The Arts; A LifeLong Feud

Well, hopefully this will not come to a shocker to most of you, but as you probably know, I'm pretty heavily involved in the Performing Arts ("Whaaaaaat?!?!?!). I know. You would've never guessed that I like to sing, dance, and perform my way through life, but alas, it is true. When I was younger, I was never good at soccer, football, baseball, basketball, or any other "manly" sport. I tried; Oh, how I tried! But I was just never good. So, when performing came along, BAM!

Where am I going with this?

We watched a video in class last week that was about sports, sports, sports, sports, sports (Well, duh, David. It's a Sports Documentary...) And I understand that. However, as I sat there, listening to more and more "complaints" about sports that people have brought up throughout the history of sports.

Yet it was SO hard for me to sit there and listen to these complaints over and over! Do people in Sports realize how "easy" it is for them to get air-time, sponsorships, fans, etc.? I mean, stop complaining and realize there are people out there who do NOT have it nearly as easy as you when it comes to gaining support and recognition.

I'm really not that upset, but I'm just saying it wasn't super easy to sit through the movie and sympathize for the various arguments and complaints when I would do almost anything to have a documentary produced talking about the "truth" behind various forms of the Arts and what we "go through" compared to other hobbies in life.

Yay Performing!
