Post 4- Sports and Military correlation
I found our discussion in class about how the sports and military are related very
interesting. People had good arguments for both sides of the argument. I did
not voice my opinion in class on this matter so I’m going to do it now. I find
distinct similarities between sports and military. To me they seem to influence
each other. I’m going start with football. Football is a battle of the
trenches. This is what a ground war is called as well. They both have 2
opponents/enemies going against one another to gain something over the other
side. It makes perfect sense. Or look at the team aspect of sports. The military
is all about teamwork. If they did not act as one cohesive force, the more
vulnerable they become. Whether in sports or in the military, you have to be
able to count on your teammates. This is vital to the success of a team. The US
military is so effective because they understand the importance of teamwork.
The great sports teams also understand this. My favorite team of all time the
New York Yankees have been the epitome of teamwork since the organization was
founded. They have won 27 world championships, which is right around a third of
all MLB world championships combined. That is a pretty astonishing feat to
accomplish. The US military has been so dominant over the years because
teamwork is their job and they know it. They are also the teammates to all
Americans because they defend our freedom to be able to play and watch the
sports we love.
