The past weekend the 45th CMA award show aired. I do not have cable, but I got to watch it this past week and after I watched it I noticed something I do not think I have noticed before. I noticed a Para social relationship with country music. Now in class we talked about people… well I will get there. I feel that I have a Para social relationship with the majority of country artists. Such as, and not limited to, Keith (Urban), Brad (Paisley), Tim, (McGraw), Luke (Bryan), Jake (Owen), George (Straight), Carrie (Underwood), and well many more. I tend to only talk about them on a first name basis and I feel that I know what they are doing, and whenever they have a new song etc.
A part of this may have to do with my love for country music, or the fact that I will be moving to Nashville here in a few short months for a semester (and maybe for the rest of my life). I recently received an internship at a record company on Music Row in Nashville. Tim is part of the record company, so I am sure him and I will become really close … that’s a joke. Overall, I just feel like I have somewhat developed a Para social relationship with country music (stars) over the past couple years. Thanks to this class for making me realize it!
