Twitter diet

Over the past couple of weeks I've learned more about the Twitter diet, not from research or anything like that, but from seeing someone do it. About a week after we talked about food culture and all that goes with it my boyfriend decided to go on a "twitter diet." He doesn't need to lose weight, he's a fellow athlete here at Ball State, but he just wants to slim down a little. A few summers ago to try and cut a few pounds he would write down everything he ate and show his mom at the end of the day and he found that that kind of accountability really helped him stick to portion control and better eating habits, so he would embark on his twitter diet to do the same.

I get his tweets sent to my phone, so I am now in tuned with every thing he has. I know if he skips a meal or if he has food that I left at his house, which is valuable ammunition for me to get on him if I want to (which I would never do, ever). The thing is is that he doesn't eat any differently than he did before really, he shaves a snack or two now but other than that its pretty much the same, but the thing is, is that through his twitter diet, he lost weight. He works out 4-5 times a week and just by holding himself accountable through tweeting, he's lost that little bit of weight he wanted. With the holidays coming up I really think this will keep him in check with his food intake, and that's all I want for him to do. I want him to feel good about himself and if me reading a tweet from him saying he had chicken, a salad and a brownie for lunch, then I'm happy to do it. I think that if other people are wondering if this really works, I must say, if you hold yourself accountable, it will.
