My friends and I were having a conversation today about our conversation on princess culture. When I was younger I found that my parents were always about putting me in sports and teaching sort of all of the skills a person should know. Like my dad taught me at a young age how to change a tire, change oil, and I know how to build an engine. I never thought of this as gender bending until our class discussion. My mom always taught me the usual things like how to put on make up or how you can tell if a boy likes you or not. So I think when we were talking in class everything made sense to me, and I loved the conversation. When talking to my friends though I found that they thought that princess culture didn’t exist. Their whole point was that they didn’t think that kids think that much about gender rules and princess culture. I think otherwise because I think when your young you are at the stage where you are a sponge. You take everything in and kids are way smarter then we believe them to be. The first time my cousin watch Cinderella she told me about how pretty she was and how she wanted to be that pretty. She also wanted to marry a prince. I think that young girls do take away more from these movies then we think. So when I was talking to my friends I was just listening to them, and to be honest I think they are a great example of girls that have been affected by princess culture.
