Social media makes it possible!

When the words flash mobs come to my mine, I automatically think of individuals coming to a certain place for the pure fact of entertainment. I image them dancing in sync and on beat with one another. I think of the AT&T commercial where the man starts dancing in the middle of the train station and then receives a text message that the flash mob was moved to 12:30. Flash mobs are organized by the use of social media, e-mails and telecommunications. Another way social media influences our lives is by the organization of events, or in this case a flash mob. I know being involved in multiple organizations; e-mails and social media are our way of publicizing and organizing meetings, events, and fundraisers. For example, for Comm. Club we have a Twitter page, a Facebook page, and we send out multiple e-mails to try and get people involved in our organization.

Like we have been discussing all semester, social media is one of our main outlets to communicate with one another. I agree that social media and other electronic devices make it possible for flash mobs to occur because it allows every participant to be on the same page and know exactly when and where to assemble. Social media allows us to communicate to a mass amount of individuals, which creates a greater number of members involved within the flash mob. More people are informed about this assembly, so it will create a better performance and display to the public.
